Nothing is more elusive than life’s potentiality. If you could bottle it, you would have an egg: a tiny, mysterious capsule of future promise, the ultimate bion. In our lives, people and institutions continually seek to subject us to measurement, adjudication and plans—sometimes, as with ultrasound, for example, even before the event of our birth. But the matrix of such devices and expectations is confounded, exploded by the ineffable, generative, pre-existent power of the bion. Cobwebby nature-versus-nurture debates are swept aside. We proceed instead according to an agenda that has not been subjected to inspection or approval. Ova Nova Screenprints on velvet, velour and corduroy 20.5 x 17.5 inches and 17.5 x 14.5 inches 2008 |
